Educational Support Awards

National APIC Conference Award

  • The National APIC Conference Award recipient receives up to $2,000 in reimbursement for registration, hotel, and travel expenses for the National APIC Conference.

    During the earliest chapter meeting preceding the Conference, the recipient will receive recognition. This will also be reflected on the chapter resource page. Recipient will be notified a week after deadlines or as soon as administratively possible (Recognition details are subject to change.)

    • Active participant in the chapter for at least 1 year
    • An APIC member for at least 1 year preceding application and must be an active or lifetime member for the application year.
    • Certified in Infection Prevention by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) unless certification has lapsed following retirement.
    • Qualifying individuals who meet the Award Criteria are eligible to receive the award once in a calendar year.
    • Members of SDIC Chapter of APIC’s Award Committee are not eligible for application during their term of service.
    • If selected, the applicant is strongly encouraged to present for 5-10 minutes at a following chapter meeting on their education experience, lessons learned, etc. Applicant could arrange with the Chapter Board as to which meeting they would like to present at.

    The award is presented no more than annually and may not be presented every year.

Cheryl Richardson Leg Day Award

  • The Cheryl Richardson Leg Day Award recipient receives up to $750 in reimbursement for registration, hotel, and travel expenses for the chapter trip to the State Capitol.

    Cheryl was a much loved and respected Infection Preventionist in California who held many leadership positions at the local, state, and national level. She helped create the annual CACC Legislative Day where representatives from each of the 12 APIC chapters in CA visit the state capitol in Sacramento to help advocate for and educate on Infection Prevention.

Chapter Standard Award

  • The Chapter Standard Award recipient receives up to $500 in reimbursement for registration, travel, lodging and other event related expenses following attendance, including educational material for infection prevention. Awards cannot be used for CIC exam or recertification fees, but can for study guides or preperation expenses.

    During the earliest chapter meeting preceding the Conference, the recipient will receive recognition. This will also be reflected on the chapter resource page. Recipient will be notified a week after deadlines or as soon as administratively possible (Recognition details are subject to change.)

    • Active participant in the chapter for at least 1 year
    • Qualifying individuals who meet the Award Criteria are eligible to receive the award once in a calendar year.
    • If selected, the applicant is strongly encouraged to present for 5 minutes at a following chapter meeting on their education experience, lessons learned, etc. Applicant could arrange with the Chapter Board as to which meeting they would like to present at.
