- Understand why HICPAC was disbanded
- Executive order from the White House to reduce federal workforce
- The disbandment has left healthcare without timely, evidence-based, and expert-driven recommendations which could potentially put patients and HCWs at greater risk, especially during a pandemic or an outbreak.
- Understand the inception and why HIPAG was created
- HICPAC was created in 1991 and played a vital role in the development of Infection Prevention and Control guidance.
- HIPAG was created to fill gaps in variations and inconsistencies in organizations policies and procedures due to the disbandment of HICPAC
- HIPAG will offer timely, evidence-informed advisory expertise that supports IP’s and healthcare facility needs

- Evaluate and apply evidence‑based guidance by comparing society guidelines, addressing discrepancies and emerging evidence to manage high‑risk endoscope practices and regulatory expectations, including simethicone use, alcohol flushing, drying methods, hang-time, storage, and loaned endoscopes.
- Describe human factors and system-based risks in endoscope reprocessing and interpret borescope findings to identify failures, assess internal channel conditions, and integrate results into quality assurance protocols.
